I'm Nick Baumkotter, welcome to my website. Please see Services to find out how I can bring your dirty and damaged paintings back to life. Before you go there, just a little bit about me .......
I have been restoring paintings for over 36 years. As a young apprentice with William Lowe (formerly of The Courtauld Institute, V&A and art restorer of the Royal collection) and also with Derek & Roger Hulme (three generations of Old Master restorers and founding members of the British Association of Picture Restorers), I quickly realised I had the perseverance and patience for painstaking, practical work. My appreciation of antiques and art history was kindled by my mother with whom I ran Baumkotter Gallery in Kensington Church Street for many years.
I work in the art trade, for private individuals, for auction houses and for public institutions on paintings of all sizes, on frescoes and on frames. I am a member of LAPADA (London & Provincial Antique Dealers' Association) and am one of their specialist service providers.
Clients can park easily at my studio in the London Borough of Sutton.
